4So far, so good.......
By Tula B
I was able to buy this at a local sporting goods store for about $800 (Had a coupon). The box is very heavy (over 200lbs i think) and really long. It will for sure take 2 or 3 people to handle it. I decided to tackle the installation myself and read everything twice before performing each step. Needless to say, it took me quite some time to get done. From start to finish was a 5 hour process but i figure i could have done it in about half the time if i was not being extra careful. Make sure you do not unnecessarily over tighten anything. There is no need for herculean force to tighten the bolts. Also, avoid power tools if possible. No major issues were noted during the assembly. However, it is advisable to have some latex gloves, hand soap and wipes handy as there is some lubrication/greasing to be done and it does get quite messy. Now on to the actual usage itself. This machine rocks! I know it is not commercial grade but in close to a month with several household members using it for at least an hour or more each day (combined), there has not been any major problems. There was a squeak the second day of use coming from the roller under the foot pad. This was easily solved with the white grease included in the box. Proform does not call for the usage of the grease during assembly but they do mention it in the maintenance section to correct squeaks. Apart from that, a little adjustment had to be made to a slightly loose and noisy foot pad. Now, some not so good observations. The fan is not that great. It is loud on the highest setting but does provide some air to your face/body. However, i recommend you purchase a real fan if you are one of those that needs it. The on-board one is not a replacement for the real thing. The on-board speakers are a joke. You will probably get better sound quality from the speakers on your mobile phone. The biggest annoyance for me is that the big 7 inch display does not allow you to input your actual weight and set and save your own personal program. Instead, everything is done through their "ifit" program that requires a $99 module purchase upfront and monthly or yearly fees after the first year. It is really annoying that a large person and a small person working out at the same intensity will have the same calories burnt displayed. Having said all that, i love losing weight in the comfort of my own home! I will add some pictures later on to the main section and will come back periodically to update this review.

Update 09/22/12: Its been about 6 months of use and it is still holding up. It squeaks a little but that is expected after the use it is getting. Time to tighten things down and use some grease i guess.

1TERRIBLE PRODUCT, EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SVC
By EMoore78
I received this machine on 5/30, and as of today, 7/27, I am still unable to use it. After turning it on the first time, the incline ramp went all the way up and it couldn't be adjusted using the console. Proform customer svc sent a tech after I waited 2 weeks for a new motor. After installing the new motor, the tech found the motor wasn't the problem, that it was actually the console. Proform refused to send a new console, saying the technician didn't know it was the console for a fact, and sent new wiring for him to "try" instead. From this I can only gather Proform has little confidence in their own technicians' capabilities, or they enjoy wasting their customers' time. The tech installed new wiring on 7/20 and, and to our lack of surprise, it didn't work. Proform customer service then allowed the tech to order a new console on 7/20 and now, after waiting a week for it, I am being told it was just shipped out on 7/26. I will probably not be able to use this machine until August, if it even works then. I'm so disgusted, and I can't believe the lack of customer service on Proform's part. If this console doesn't work, I'm afraid the machine is going back and Proform has lost a customer for life. Save your money, don't make the same mistake as me.

5Wanted one for a long time - decided on this one
By Deborah
I have an old treadmill I thought of replacing so I went shopping. I ended up on the ellipticals since I love the workout they give. I tried a few and then got on this one. I loved it. The toning ramp seriously makes a difference which changes the workout.

I had this professionally put together. I bought it locally but waited a few days after looking at it before buying it. I read tons of reviews and compared other machines with this one. I got it a few weeks ago and have used it almost daily. It is quiet and comfortable. It makes you sweat within minutes. I also got the ifit, which works surprisingly well (I reviewed that first since it worked well for me and the reviews were horrible). You definitely don't need that and it doesn't add too much for an elliptical anyway.

It sucks there are so many people that have had problems. It was wobbly but all I did was read the instructions which told me how to level it. I also noticed you are supposed to turn off and unplug every time so I do that now.

This one is much more quiet than the ones at the gym and it is nicer to use. I love this thing!
